PFIPC Probe Takes Fresh Twist as Reps Make New Revelation on Gbajabiamila’s Signature

A fresh revelation has emerged from the House of Representatives investigation into the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, PFIPC, as lawmakers clarified the authenticity of documents linked to the controversy.

Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Yusuf Gadgi, stated that the signatures of President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, on letters addressed to nine government agencies were genuine.

He explained that the only signature found to be inconsistent was the one appearing on the appointment letter issued to the alleged Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, PFIPC, Adeyemi Adeniyi.

Gadgi disclosed this during the ongoing investigative hearing at the National Assembly into the activities of the alleged agency and the appointment of Adeniyi.

He said, “Letters written by the Office of the Chief of Staff to the National Security Adviser, to Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Office of the Head of the Federal Civil Service, to Ministry of foreign Affairs, to DG of DSS, to the Nigeria Police; nine different letters from the Chief of Staff to the President including some of his former signatures here that I believe are the same.

“The only signature that differs is the signature that appointed the fake DG.”

Meanwhile, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, recounted how officials claiming to represent the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council appeared before her office, presenting themselves as a newly established government agency.

According to Walson-Jack, her office had never encountered such a situation since the creation of the Civil Service.

She further disclosed that the PFIPC delegation led by Adeniyi requested the issuance of an appointment letter for its Chief Executive Officer, citing provisions of its purported Establishment Act.
