Bello El-Rufai has been forewarned by Honourable Yusuf Liman, Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, not to intimidate or threaten the House over the investigation into his father’s eight years in power.

ZINGTIE recalls that the House of Assembly established a committee on Tuesday to look into financial transactions, grants, loans, and project execution from 2015 to 2023 while former governor El-Rufai’s administration was in office.

But the speaker claimed that Bello disrespected every member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly by posting two tweets on social media that implied a call to “fight.”

He also conveyed worry over insulting and implicitly threatening messages he received from Bello, a member of the House of Representatives who represents Kaduna North.

The speaker claimed that the screenshots of such tweets and messages have been widely shared, alarming the people of Kaduna State, in a statement provided by his media assistant, Malam Suraj Bamalli.

“It is disheartening that a federal lawmaker, entrusted with representing the people, would resort to such behaviour, attempting to obstruct the lawful functions of the state Assembly,” he said.

He asserted that the Assembly would not be deterred from pursuing justice and accountability by threats or intimidation from anyone, including federal lawmakers, and that the House remained steadfast in its mission to maintain the rule of law in Kaduna State and serve as checks and balances.

He urged the state’s citizens to hold fast to their beliefs in accountability, openness, and the rule of law.

According to him, the Assembly members swore to preserve the honour of their position and guarantee that they carried out their responsibilities with diligence, regardless of any attempts at intimidation or threats.
