Dino Melaye, the former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, engaged in a heated argument with Samuel Ortom, the former governor of Benue State.

Melaye charged Ortom of working against the party in the 2023 presidential election.

Melaye stated that Ortom’s anti-party actions caused the PDP to lose the Benue gubernatorial and presidential elections while speaking at a PDP North Central zonal leadership meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.

He said he was surprised the former governor, who had previously betrayed the party, could be at a PDP meeting.

This resulted in a heated discussion between the two PDP chieftains.

In the 2023 election, Ortom collaborated with the G-5 governors, spearheaded by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to oppose the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Ortom supported Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, while other group members pushed for President Bola Tinubu’s election.
