Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s four nominees for commissioner have been turned down by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
On Monday, the nominees were reviewed at the State Assembly located in Port Harcourt.
Confirmed individuals include Mr. Tonye Bellgam, Professor Temple Nwofor, Dr. Peters Nwagor, Mr. Lekue Kenneth, and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart.
Professor Datonye Alasia, Mrs. Charity Deemua, Tamuno Williams, and Otonye TKD Amachree have been rejected.
The Assembly stated that Professor Alasia was turned down as a commissioner nominee because of “poor performance”.
The immediate past Chief Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) is Alasia.
The Assembly claimed that over 11 petitions were submitted against Amachree by members of his community regarding his involvement in local affairs.
According to the lawmakers, Deemua’s confirmation was also unsuccessful due to her failure to provide tax clearance documents.
Williams was removed from his position due to allegations of “misleading the public about the activities of the Assembly.”
