SDP receives former APGA members, vows to take over Abia Govt House

With the pledge to assist the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in seizing control of the Abia State Government House in Umuahia in 2027, a large number of Abia State members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have joined the party.

Under the leadership of Azubuike Peter Chijioke, the APGA members representing 184 wards in the state declared that the SDP was the ideal political vehicle that Nigeria and Abia State currently needed.

Shehu Gabam, the SDP National Chairman, formally welcomed them to the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking as he welcomed the defecting APGA members, he said the mass defection would greatly strengthen the party’s position in the run-up to the general elections in 2027, especially in its attempt to seize control of the Abia State Government House.

The SDP chairman also emphasized the significance of keeping an up-to-date party register and counseled the defectors to give proper ward-level registration first priority in accordance with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) digital membership criteria.

When the group requested membership cards and other party materials, Gabam pledged to provide them with personalized membership cards to help with their integration and reassured them of the party’s complete support.
