Although his wife and Nigerian relatives are still ignorant of his death, a Nigerian man who allegedly traveled to Russia to fight in the ongoing battle against Ukraine has been officially declared dead.

The unidentified individual reportedly volunteered in the hopes of obtaining fast-track Russian citizenship, a perk Russia now provides to foreigners who sign one-year or longer military contracts.

Social media influencer Ezinne Laura Idika tweeted the news of his passing, mentioning a family friend who was having a hard time telling the deceased man’s wife in Nigeria the terrible news.

According to reports, the man’s family is entitled to more than ₦100 million in compensation, which was allegedly promised to the families of foreign soldiers killed in action, despite his untimely death.

However, there is mounting evidence that many Asian, African, and incarcerated recruits who were enticed by similar claims are not receiving the benefits they were promised.

According to numerous sources, a large number of these volunteers never obtained the promised money recompense or citizenship.

Others passed away before the application procedure for citizenship or payment could even start, while some were left behind after being hurt.

Their families have received nothing in a large number of these cases.
