A woman has been detained in Adamawa State for reportedly impersonating as a vehicle inspection officer, VIO, and for being involved in employment racketeering.
The Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Police, which detained the woman, named as Face Samuel, claimed Wednesday morning that the woman was apprehended on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
The suspect repeatedly pretended to be a VIO and defrauded several people, according to a statement from the command.
According to the statement, Friday Adamu, Abel Samuel, Evlyne Amos, and Blessing Kefas were the victims, from whom the woman obtained N350,000 under the guise of finding them work at the Adamawa State Ministry of Transportation’s Vehicle Inspection Office.
According to the statement, which was signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, “The suspect confessed to committing the crime and further disclosed that the VIO’s uniform used in the fraudulent act was given to her by a yet to be identified person.”
According to Nguroje, CP Dankombo Morris, the state commissioner of police, has promised a thorough investigation to find further potential victims and accomplices in Face Samuel’s crime.
