Socso Offers Free Medical Treatment at Partner Clinics for Contributors.

Beginning this year, over six million Social Security Organisation (Socso) contributors in Malaysia can enjoy free medical treatment at 1,400 panel clinics nationwide. This new incentive, announced by Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong, aims to honour the country’s workforce and alleviate living costs. ¹

“I want to announce that beginning this year, workers covered under Socso can just walk into any of our 1,400 panel clinics and get free medical treatment. They don’t have to pay a single cent. Just walk in and show your MyKad, and if the clinic verifies you are covered by Socso, then you don’t have to pay. We (government) will pay directly to the clinics,” Sim explained.

This move is expected to make medical treatment more accessible and affordable for workers. Employers will also benefit, as they will no longer need to cover medical expenses for their employees. Sim emphasised that Sosco has played a significant role in supporting workers, and the organisation has improved several policies to increase benefits for workers affected by workplace mishaps.

For occupational-related accidents and illnesses, workers can seek treatment at any of the 1,400 panel clinics, including 129 clinics in Penang. Last year, Socso recorded nearly RM8 million in claims from about 20,000 visits to clinics by workers, with each visit costing around RM150 to RM200.

Sim also highlighted the importance of diversity in the country, saying, “Today is the Chinese New Year, next week is Thaipusam, and soon the Holy Ramadan Month, followed by the Hari Raya celebrations. Our diversity is our strength.” He emphasised that the ministry aims to ensure a good, healthy, safe, and prosperous working environment for all Malaysians.
