The APC (All Progressives Congress) in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State has alleged that former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal neglected his home community during his time in office.
During an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Tambuwal, the allegation was voiced by Isa Sadiq Achida, the party’s local government chairman, who stated that the former governor did not bring about significant development in the area during his time in office.
Achida took issue with Tambuwal’s alleged participation in a political coalition, characterizing it as a reassembly of known political figures rather than a genuine new movement. He called on residents, especially young people, to back continuity instead of aligning with what he termed as recycled political interests.
During the meeting, the APC formally welcomed defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which included three former councillors.
The Council Leader, Nasiru Jabo, who represented the Tambuwal Local Government Chairman, stated that the local government leadership was dedicated to enhancing the party’s performance in upcoming elections.
In his speech, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Ala, revealed that the state government had sanctioned the creation of three secondary schools in Tambuwal Local Government Area.
Aminu Dikko, the Governor’s Chief of Staff, stated that numerous Tambuwal natives had been appointed to political positions in the current administration.
He dismissed speculation regarding any personal political ambitions, stating that he would adhere to party decisions.
At the time of filing this report, attempts to contact former Governor Tambuwal for comments were unsuccessful.
The PDP, via its spokesperson Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, stated that the party would reply at an appropriate time.
