Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the senator for Sokoto South and the former governor of Sokoto State, has stated that no one can ruin the record of service he has established during his political career.
After being greeted by a sizable contingent of supporters upon his return to the state, Tambuwal spoke at his Sokoto home and dismissed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) recent interrogation as an effort to scare him into joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“What they failed to realize is that I cannot be intimidated, I cannot be blackmailed, and no one can tarnish my records that God has given me,” he said.
“From my time in the House of Representatives in 2003 as Minority Leader, to Deputy Chief Whip in 2007, to Speaker in 2011, and then as governor of Sokoto for eight years, and now a Senator, I have served my people and Nigeria well.”
Tambuwal maintained that the ₦189 billion accusation against him was unfounded, pointing out that previous inquiries by the Sokoto State administration had turned up no evidence.
Additionally, he stated that Nigerians are prepared to vote against the APC in the general elections scheduled for 2027.
“We are determined. We are committed to democratic efforts, and we will join forces with all Nigerians to make sure that, by the grace of God, in 2027 we end this misrule and misgovernance in our country,” he said.
He charged the ruling party with implementing policies that hurt common citizens and fostering national insecurity.
“Their policies are anti-people. They have no compassion, they have no human feelings,” Tambuwal added.
The opposition is still steadfast, the senator reassured his supporters.
“We will not allow any election to be rigged again. By 2027, Nigerians will make their voices heard, and with God on our side, we are headed for victory.”
