The Southern Kaduna People’s Union, or SOKAPU, Youth Wing, has strongly denounced a report by the Southern Kaduna Progressives Youth Network, which called for the EFCC to look into the senator and announced plans to start a recall process against Senator Sunday Marshal Katung.

Solomon Simon, Aruwa Alhassan, and Isah Emmanuel Anjadick, the group’s National Coordinator, Secretary General, and National Public Relations Officer, respectively, released the following statement: “The attention of the SOKAPU National Youth Wing has been drawn to a press conference held on June 16, 2025, by a group identifying itself as the Southern Kaduna Progressives Youth Network, announcing plans to initiate a recall process against Senator Sunday Marshal Katung, as well as calling on the EFCC to investigate the distinguished senator.

“As the mother umbrella body of Southern Kaduna youths, we condemn in the strongest terms the antics and divisive posture of this group. Their action is not only ill-timed but also does not represent the collective aspirations, values, or direction of the youth of Southern Kaduna.”

Given Sen. Sunday Marshal Katung’s two years of deliberate representation, the SOKAPU Youth Wing feels that he, like all elected leaders in their region, deserves respect and constructive interaction rather than public mockery motivated by political or personal agendas.

According to the youths, “This culture of Pull Him Down (PHD) syndrome is dangerous, counterproductive, and thus must be rejected by all right-thinking youths.”

As long as they are promoting peace, unity, development, and youth inclusion, the organization reiterated its support for all Southern Kaduna elected politicians and government appointees, regardless of party affiliation. They emphasized that their allegiance is to the region and not to partisan differences.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state that a vast majority of the people we represent are quite satisfied with Sen. Katung’s giant strides in the areas of legislation and community development.

“His motions and bills, which attracted several federal government interventions, like the one for victims of the dreaded diphtheria disease in 2023, a N1.6 billion bailout for ginger farmers in 2024, as well as bills for the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia; the Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan; and recently, a Technology Incubation Centre to be sited in Kafanchan, among other community projects like fertilizer distribution to farmers, scholarships for indigent students, renovation of a rural hospital, construction of a science laboratory, and provision of over 30 boreholes, including solar-powered ones, among others, are a testament to his unwavering commitment to the progress of our zone,” the statement explained.

The youths emphasized that Southern Kaduna’s dignity is too important to be given up on the altar of trivial propaganda and warned against the abuse of youth forums to spread false alarms, settle political scores, or destabilize the area.
