As the 2026 FIFA World Cup heads into the quarter-final stage, the Opta SuperComputer has predicted the teams likely to progress to the semi-finals.
France will face Morocco, Spain will take on Belgium, Norway will battle England, while Argentina will meet Switzerland.
Opta has given France the highest probability of lifting the trophy at 27.32%, aligning with the views of many pundits and football analysts who consider Didier Deschamps’ side the tournament favourites.
Spain, the reigning European champions, have been assigned a 21.33% chance of winning the World Cup.
Argentina and England have been given title-winning probabilities of 17.28% and 16.48%, respectively.
Based on the SuperComputer’s projections, Norway, Switzerland, Morocco and Belgium are all expected to be knocked out at the quarter-final stage.
