When attempting to enforce a sit-at-home policy in the State of Anambra, security personnel shot and killed one accused member of the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, and injured three more.
According to a statement from Ikenga Tochukwu, the state police command’s spokesman, the IPOB members were stopped while riding a motorbike before they started shooting.
Ikenga claimed that during the confrontation, three miscreants were shot but managed to escape, with one of them being taken into custody.
The event took place at the Oba flypast in the Idemili South Local Government Area, according to The Nation.
Despite the assurances of the police and security services, Anambra residents chose to remain indoors on Thursday.
Additionally, it was noted that every route in the state from Awka to Onitsha and Nnewi is deserted.
Even the construction workers Governor Chukwuma Soludo hired to build the flyover connecting Oko, Igboukwu, and Amawbia left the sites.
In Anambra, not a single market, including stores and garages, opened for business.
