A man who was accused of r@ping a married woman has been exiled by women from the Egbema Ozubulu village in Anambra State.

According to eyewitness reports, the women sang “onye ohi otu,” a local chant that roughly translates as “v@gina thief,” as they drove the man out of the neighborhood. The women were seen escorting him away during the event while holding up leaves, a customary emblem used in communal penalties.

According to reports, the man was compelled to leave the neighborhood without bringing anything with him. The action is an example of a traditional kind of collective punishment that women’s organizations frequently employ to publicly humiliate and banish those who are suspected of grave wrongdoing.
