Nigeria’s Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, Minister of Information Idris Mohammed and other prominent members of the All Progressives Congress have commenced mobilisation efforts aimed at securing a record number of votes from the North Central region for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the January 16, 2027 presidential election.

The development followed the inauguration of a mobilisation forum headed by Arc. Sonny Echono by Akume in Abuja on Friday.

Akume said the major focus of the forum was to rally support and encourage a strong voter turnout for the President during the 2027 election.

He added that the North Central region was targeting the highest aggregate number of votes for Tinubu among the regions.

Sule, on his part, described the forum as a timely platform that was needed ahead of the election.

The Nasarawa governor said the obstacles confronting the region ahead of the 2027 election were gradually being overcome, noting that the latest voter register showed significant support for the APC across the North Central.

He expressed optimism that the region would record the highest number of votes for the President.

Also speaking, Idris described the initiative as unprecedented.

The convener of the forum, Echono, said the discussion had moved beyond the question of whether Tinubu would secure victory in the North Central to how the region could position itself to produce the highest vote tally for the President in the 2027 election.
