Leaders of Nigeria’s opposition parties have commenced moves to put a national coalition into operation as they seek to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the January 16, 2027 presidential election.

Salihu Lukman disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday on behalf of the coalition under the G100.

According to him, the proposed coalition is designed to ensure equal opportunities and mutual respect among the political parties involved.

He said the opposition coalition is scheduled to reconvene on September 23, 2026, as part of efforts to advance discussions on a consensus presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 election.
