President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has finally left Paris, France, bringing an end to his working vacation in Europe after spending at least 30 days outside Nigeria.

The president departed Abuja for Europe on August 30 for his annual leave and was initially expected to return after 21 days.

However, his return date was postponed on at least two occasions.

Tinubu’s prolonged absence from the country had attracted criticism from opposition parties, which called for explanations regarding his whereabouts and health status.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the president’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that Tinubu had departed Paris for Nigeria.

Onanuga said the president’s aircraft “is expected to touch down at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, later this evening.

“The Nigerian leader chose to fly to Lagos first to honour the memory of Chief MKO Abiola, the martyr of Nigeria’s democratic struggle”.
