Consular stations are banned to fly the American flag, according to a Trump administration directive.
President Donald Trump has promised to take strong action against the LGBTQ community in the nation.
According to the UK’s Guardian, a letter known as the “One flag policy” aims to prevent the flying of Black Lives Matter and Gay Pride flags at embassies, as was the case under the previous administration.
Conservatives reacted negatively to the White House’s display of pride flags during a 2023 Pride Month celebration.
And now, the present administration has put a halt to some of the same activities that the Biden administration accepted.
“Starting immediately, only the United States of America flag is authorized to be flown or displayed at US facilities, both domestic and abroad, and featured in US government content,” the memo read.
The message continued by stating that the universal values of justice, liberty, and democracy bind all Americans together under the American flag.
The ruling came after a number of executive orders signed by Trump on his first day in office.
