Trump decides on sending imprisoned US nationals to El Salvador’s high-security prison

US President Donald Trump has expressed his willingness to send incarcerated US citizens to El Salvador’s high-security prison.

Trump stated that he would be pleased if El Salvador could accept some dangerous American criminals.

“I’d love that,” Trump told reporters on Sunday aboard Air Force One when asked about a proposal from El Salvador’s President, Nayib Bukele, to house convicted US citizens in the country’s high-security mega prison.

“If they can house these horrible criminals for a lot less money than it costs us, I am all for it, but I’d only do it according to the law,” Trump added.

“We have some horrible criminals, American-grown and born.

“I think if we could get El Salvador or somebody to take them, I’d be very happy with it, but I have to see what the law says.”

This comes just days after Trump publicly thanked Bukele for agreeing to take in criminals deported from the US.
