Senator Lindsey Graham feels that President Donald Trump erred in pardoning individuals found guilty of serious offenses during the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.
Within hours of his oath, Trump signed a matching order in the White House in Washington, pardoning the Capitol riot culprits.
He insisted that the criminals’ lives had been destroyed in order to justify his decision to pardon them.
Graham discussed the topic on Sunday, speculating that additional violence would result from Trump’s decision to pardon the Capitol rioters.
“Pardoning the people who went into the Capitol and beat up a police officer violently I think was a mistake, because it seems to suggest that’s an OK thing to do,” Graham told NBC News’ “Meet the Press.”
According to report, Trump supporters forcefully invaded the U.S. Congressional seat in Washington on January 6, 2021, where the Republican’s election loss to Joe Biden was scheduled to be verified.
Five people were killed when a throng, incited by Trump, who staged a protest to support allegations of election fraud, broke into the building.
Attacks on police officers during the riots on January 6 were described by Trump as “minor incidents.”
