American journalist Laura Loomer has criticized U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent for working alongside John Bryant, the founder of Operation HOPE, whom she accused of being openly opposed to former President Donald Trump.

Loomer shared her views in a statement posted on X on Thursday.

Her remarks followed a statement issued by Bessent on April 3 via his own X account, where he announced a partnership with Bryant focused on promoting financial literacy programs.

“Financial literacy is a necessity, not a luxury. To kick off Financial Literacy Month, I had a great meeting with my longtime friend John Hope Bryant, who is collaborating with us at the U.S. Treasury on the Financial Literacy for All (FL4A) initiative. We look forward to working together to help deliver quality financial tools and knowledge to empower all Americans,” Bessent wrote.

In her response, Laura Loomer asserted that John Bryant has no place near the White House.

She supported her stance by bringing attention to Bryant’s previous remarks concerning former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, who permanently suspended Donald Trump’s account on January 8, 2021, in the aftermath of the January 6 Capitol riot.

Loomer further claimed that Bryant had also advocated for Trump’s impeachment following the events of January 6.

She argued that the partnership between Bessent and Bryant highlights a lapse in the White House’s vetting procedures, which, in her view, could pose a threat to former President Trump.

”U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent invited rabid Trump hater John Hope Bryant to work with him at the U.S. Treasury despite Bryant’s public praise of former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey for banning President Trump’s X account on January 8, 2021, after January 6.

“Here’s the evidence that John Hope Bryant celebrated the deplatforming of President Trump and called for President Donald Trump to be impeached two days after January 6. He also called on Trump to resign after the incident, yet he has since been brought into the Trump administration by his good friend Scott Bessent.

“I am going to personally tell President Trump and show him these receipts.

“This is another egregious Trump administration vetting failure that puts President Trump at risk,”* she wrote on X.

U.S. tech mogul and Trump ally Elon Musk responded to Loomer’s post on Friday, calling the situation “troubling” through his X account.

As of the time of this report, neither Scott Bessent nor Donald Trump have commented on Loomer’s accusations.
