Alhaji Sule Lamido, a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former governor of Jigawa State, has harshly criticized Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, saying that Wike’s actions have not only betrayed the PDP but also revealed his political shallowness.

Lamido said these things in a recent interview with Vanguard Newspaper, when he discussed the PDP’s internal problems and the contentious that Wike has played in them, according to Vanguard.

Just before a planned National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, the former governor was especially responding to the recent sealing of the PDP National Secretariat, a move that was generally attributed to Wike.

Lamido criticized Wike for betraying the party that made him nationally significant, calling the action “destructive” and “un-African.”

Lamido claims that Wike’s actions stem from a distorted feeling of entitlement and a disrespect for the principles that formerly constituted Nigerian political culture.

It’s interesting to note that Lamido accepted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s intervention, which prompted the PDP headquarters to reopen.

Given that Wike’s current orientation seems to be in service to the APC-led administration, he called the situation comical.

“The very man Wike is trying to please by destroying his own political family is the one saying, ‘No, you can’t do that.’ So, in a way, Tinubu has exposed him – showing that Wike is unreliable, without tradition, without pedigree. And now, Tinubu too may likely abandon him very soon,” Lamido stated.
