Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), a Niger Delta chieftain and the chairman of a private pipeline surveillance firm hired by the Federal Government, has advised resentful Ijaws not to respond to Nyesom Wike’s recent comments, which many believe are demeaning to the Ijaw nation, according to a report that reached us from Punch.

He assured everyone that Rivers State’s suspended governor, Siminalayi Fubara, will return to his post. Tompolo expressed his concern, saying that he had been accused of betraying the Ijaw country by remaining silent regarding Fubara’s suspension.

He did, however, stress his unwavering dedication to the Ijaw cause, saying that he has dedicated his life to fighting for the Ijaw nation and that he cannot betray them.

Tompolo recognized his longstanding friendship with Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, and said that the Ijaw people were instrumental in Wike’s rise to the governorship of Rivers State.

He revealed that efforts are underway to resolve the differences between Wike and Sim Fubara.

He claimed that the Ijaws would never be defeated and that if the heavens wanted to fight beside them, they would. “I have never lost a battle,” he continued.

He reiterated his commitment to peace and harmony by stating, “Because I have not spoken, they say I have betrayed the Ijaw nation, but I cannot betray the Ijaw nation.”

“I have spent all my life fighting for Ijaw. But we have passed the stage of responding to Wike’s kind of statement. We are no longer at that level.”

“And just like I will not accept rebellion from my son, I will also not cause more problems. Wike is angry, but he has to bring his temper down for the good of all. We will dialogue and resolve all lingering issues, and again Fubara will return to his seat.”
