Ballon d’Or 2026: Deco Makes Bold Prediction Ahead of Award

Barcelona sporting director, Deco, has identified Lamine Yamal as the leading contender for the 2026 Ballon d’Or award.

Speaking with RAC1, Deco described Yamal as “decisive” during the period under review.

He said: “Lamine should be the favorite for the Ballon d’Or. For me, no doubts.

“Remember everything he’s done with Barça and the national team.
“He’s had some decisive moments, even going to the World Cup with an injury. Last season was key.”

Yamal helped Barcelona secure the LaLiga and Copa del Rey titles last season.

The 19-year-old was also a member of the Spain team that lifted the 2026 World Cup trophy in North America.

He has also made the 30-player shortlist of nominees for this year’s prestigious individual award.
