Yamal reveals who stands between him and Ballon d’Or glory

Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has identified Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe as his main rival in the race for the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

The Spanish youngster made the claim during an interview with Movistar.

Yamal described himself and Mbappe as the two best players in world football but insisted that he has done enough to deserve the prestigious individual award.

He said: “Kylian Mbappe and I, we are the two best in the world.

“But I think I am the one who deserves to win the Ballon d’Or.”

Yamal and Mbappe are both included among the 30 nominees shortlisted for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

During the period under review, Yamal helped secure the LaLiga, Copa del Rey and World Cup titles.

Mbappe, meanwhile, finished as the leading scorer in the Champions League, LaLiga and World Cup.
