What Happened to a 15-Year-Old in Dutse Leaves Residents in Shock

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Jigawa State Command, has confirmed the death of a 15-year-old boy, Isah Muhammad, who reportedly drowned in a pond popularly called Sterling Pond along Disina Road in Dutse Local Government Area.

The Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC in Jigawa State, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, disclosed the incident in a statement. He explained that the tragedy occurred on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at about 4:30 p.m., after the command received an emergency report that the teenager, who lived in Bokoto Quarters, Dutse, had drowned in the pond.

According to the statement, officers attached to the Takur Site Division responded immediately after receiving the alert, rushed to the scene and evacuated the victim to the General Hospital in Dutse, where a medical doctor confirmed that he had died.

After the death was officially confirmed, the body of the deceased was handed over to his family for burial in line with Islamic traditions.

The NSCDC State Commandant in Jigawa, Commandant Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa, extended his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that Allah grants the deceased eternal rest while giving his loved ones the strength to cope with the painful loss.
