President Bola Tinubu has been encouraged by Jaliu Aliu Charanchi, the Coordinator of the Coalition of Northern Groups, to put an end to the speculations that are spreading about the relocation of FAAN and the CBN to Lagos, as they appear to be fueling division among Nigerians. He brought attention to worries held by the Hausa community, implying that the belief is that the President is acting in a way that benefits his people.
He drew attention to the fact that a sizable percentage of Tinubu’s votes came from the North, suggesting that the North should be rewarded politically. He declared that he completely disagreed with the justifications given for the decision to move the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to Lagos. He issued a warning, saying that the ruling party is suffering as a result of the recent moves, which are seen as being harsh on the North.
In an interview with The Sun, he stated, “The President shouldn’t allow all these rumors to be going about, it is only creating disunity among Nigerians. The Hausa man is saying that Tinubu is doing what he’s doing because he wants to favor his people. Majority of votes given to Tinubu came from the North, so politically he’s supposed to reward them and not punish them.”
“If you are taking CBN and FAAN back to Lagos just for reason best known to you, we don’t agree with that reason and we reject them in totality. The reality is that this is already affecting his political career and the All Progressive Congress [APC] as a party, people are seeing what he’s doing as a punishment to the North and to jeopardize Abuja as FCT.”
