The Nyesom Wike-backed National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has started renovations at Wadata Plaza, the party’s national secretariat.
Journalists monitoring developments at the PDP national secretariat in Zone 5 on Monday observed that the renovation work is still in progress, ahead of the planned resumption of workers.
The renovation follows the unsealing of the party secretariat by the police, which granted access to the Wike-backed faction.
The barricades around the main office building had been removed, although a few police vehicles remained stationed at the premises, with personnel continuing to guard the facility.
A party member, speaking on condition of anonymity, informed NAN that the renovation works began on Sunday.
“The staff members of the party’s national secretariat are yet to resume, but the renovation works started yesterday (Sunday).
“The ongoing renovation works include painting, changing air conditioners, locks and keys to the offices, as well as their allocation to the new National Working Committee (NWC) members.
“However, I think the challenge now is that some of the staff members loyal to the Tanimu Turaki–led NWC may find it difficult to come and resume here,” the party member said.
At the time of reporting, no party officials had arrived at the secretariat.
It should be recalled that the faction’s National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, had announced the reopening of the PDP national secretariat and the presidential campaign office, Legacy House in Maitama, on Saturday in Abuja.
