One of the survivors of the purported Fulani herdsmen’s attack in Yelewata, which killed numerous locals, Angela Tarbo, stated that the herdsmen poured gasoline on the store and slashed her hand and head with a cutlass when they reached out to her.
According to reports by the Sun News, Angela Tarbo said, “They started shooting and slaughtering people. When they reached me, they cut me on my head and my hand with a cutlass and poured petrol on the shop. Then they set the store on fire, and I struggled to escape with fire on my body.”
Angela, who was hardly able to speak above a whisper because of her injuries, described her horrific experience. When the sound of rain filled the air on the night of the attack, she explained, they were asleep. They heard sounds that at first seemed like thunder, but they quickly recognized them as gunfire.
She claimed that the herdsmen killed and shot individuals as they broke into stores. After being attacked and having a cutlass cut her hand and head, the business was doused with gasoline and set on fire. Angela, who was burned, fought to get away. Some of her neighbors died as a result of the terrible effects. She attributed her survival to the help of God.
