2027: ADC speaks on the means of claiming power from APC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), a recently established opposition coalition group, has declared that its goal is to overthrow the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) via democratic channels.

ADC emphasized that it has no interest in sabotaging Nigeria’s democracy in a statement released Thursday in Abuja by Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s acting national publicity secretary.

Following a tweet by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, this clarification was made.

According to Abdullahi, Onanuga had charged that the opposition was planning to topple President Bola Tinubu’s administration before to 2027.

“We are not soldiers, we are politicians. We don’t have bullets; we only have the ballots,” he said.

A free, open, and competitive political environment is essential to the health of Nigeria’s democracy, Abdullahi emphasized, adding that ADC is still dedicated to constructing a better Nigeria via peace and democratic engagement.
