2027: Dele Momodu predicts election winner (Video)

A prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Dele Momodu, has projected a difficult path for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Momodu made the assertion during a conversation with Oseni Rufai on Nevon Media on Friday, where he expressed confidence in the electoral prospects of the ADC’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

He argued that if Atiku succeeds in maintaining a strong presence in the South while securing overwhelming support across the North, he would emerge victorious over both President Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi.

“As I predicted, Atiku will win the majority of the North, and if he is able to compete favourably in the South, it will be over for President Tinubu and Peter Obi.

“Atiku will secure at least 25% of the votes in 26 states while also dominating the North, which is where the bulk of the votes are,” he said.

Momodu went on to explain that Nigeria’s constitutional requirements for winning a presidential election demand not only the highest number of votes nationwide but also at least 25 per cent of votes in two-thirds of the states.

According to him, Atiku appears well-positioned to meet that benchmark, particularly through strong support from the northern region, which traditionally contributes a substantial share of the national vote count.

His remarks come as political heavyweights prepare for another contest on the national stage.

In the 2023 presidential election, Bola Tinubu emerged winner with about 37 per cent of the total votes, drawing significant support from the South-West while maintaining a broad distribution of votes across the country.
