The Obidient Movement has cautioned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, against any alleged attempt to manipulate the outcome of the 2027 general elections.
The group issued the warning in a statement released on Wednesday by its Directorate of Media and Communications.
It insisted that Nigerians must retain the freedom to elect their preferred leaders through a transparent, credible and fair electoral process.
The reaction follows Wike’s recent announcement that he would spearhead President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in the FCT and Rivers State.
The Movement also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and security agencies to maintain political neutrality and prevent any attempt to influence the electoral process.
According to the group, no politician or political party should seek to predetermine election results before voters have exercised their democratic rights.
Wike had on Monday declared himself the field commander of Tinubu’s re-election campaign in the FCT and Rivers State.
The minister also pledged to coordinate political activities aimed at supporting the President’s bid for a second term in office.
Reacting to his declaration, the Obidient Movement said, “Wike must understand that coordinating a political campaign does not confer ownership of the electorate, control over voters, or authority over the electoral process.”
