Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and his nephew, Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, have attracted criticism on X following the governor’s decision to support the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The controversy erupted after Adeleke announced his intention to help secure Osun State for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Reports also indicated that the governor, who is a member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, had been appointed coordinator of the City Boy Movement in Osun State.

The development has sparked questions from Nigerians, with some recalling Adeleke’s earlier declaration during the Osun governorship election that he would not allow the APC to win the state.

Davido has also faced criticism following the resurfacing of some of his previous posts on X in which he criticised the ruling party.

In one of the old posts currently circulating online, the singer wrote, “Anybody supporting APC in Osun is an enemy of progress.”

ZINGTIE gathered some of the reactions shared by Nigerians on X.

@kokomatic: “Just imagine if Rauf Aregbesola and the APC in Osun had given the rerun ticket to Ademola Adeleke instead of Mudashir Hussein in 2017, after the death of Isiaka Adeleke (Serubawon). That breakaway from the Adeleke family and their supporters is one of the reasons Osun is not under APC today, even though Governor Oyetola defeated the dancing governor in 2018 and governed for a term.

“If the incumbent governor had also joined the APC some months ago, it would have saved our party a lot of stress and unnecessary spending. Governor Adeleke will join the APC in 2027, and life will go on.

“Sometimes, forgiving an old enemy and working with them, especially in politics, can be a smart strategic move. That person will have a lot to prove to you. We keep learning in this game.”

@AwoOluu: “ I know you guys love Davido but that nigga is fake asf .. you wonder why everyone in the industry doesn’t rate him. He lacks credibility, integrity and he’s so cruel and it pains me you guys can’t see it! Everything is about money right?

“Now you guys need to make this make sense? When Ademola Adeleke needed the support of the people of Osun State, the APC was portrayed as evil. Many people stood firmly with him till the end, and some even lost their lives.

“Many women became widows, many children were left fatherless and motherless, and many elderly parents had to bury their own children for his sake. Yet barely two months later, what did Ademola Adeleke do? He spat on their sacrifice. This is a very big disappointment in the history of the Adeleke family. Senator Ademola Adeleke Jackson is a shame. You have insulted the people of Osun State.”

@SEA KING: “You and ur dancing governor uncle are enemy of progress. Una go learn lesson toooo Abi ?”

@samuelorio: “The Adeleke family is showing what many would call political double standards. You don’t want APC to rule Osun State, yet you support the same APC to rule Nigeria. How does that make sense? Make it make sense!”

@EMOJ_01: “Some Nigerians are so politically clueless and emotionally driven that they need a celebrity to tell them who to vote for. Una no fit think for una self again? If your PVC needs a celebrity’s instruction before you can make a decision, you’re insane.”

@boxypiper: “Davido and his family don’t want APC ruling Osun State, but they’re okay with APC ruling Nigeria. Make it make sense.”

@Francis133: “If you watch Vdm last video on instagram I swear you will never take Davido serious again, the same Davido that stood with his uncle against Apc in the last Osun state governorship election is now mute after his uncle is now campaigning for Apc for presidential election.”

@Jude Heavenly: “Your uncle is supporting APC and Tinubu, who is he?”

@GreatCbscjim: “I hope Davido will address this to his audience Tbh.”

@atetemarho: “Wickedness aside let’s sit back and applaud this man’s brilliance when it comes to politics I can say he’s that one politician that really knows how to exploit Nigerians stupidity.”

@pbtips: “Davido and his family doesn’t want APC in Osun state but they want APC for Nigerians.”

@unkle_renzoo: “By now, @davido would have made over 100 posts in defense of his uncle | love this energy! I fucking love it! Wake up Naija! Wake up!.”

@Geezyprotips: “As long itis beneficial to him, he no s d you. Na who dey go trust person wey scam his followers millions of dollars i pity.”

@Tutsy22: “For someone who is shameless, the next move for him is to join OFFICIALLY APC.”

@Moweyyyy: “Anybody supporting APC in Osun state is an enemy of progress, Na so them carry us handicap, I come dey feel like fool bcs I follow defend.”

@FSYusuff: “Davido’s uncle will rig Osun state for Tinubu. That’s him keeping his part of the deal. We are cooked.”

@callmeuchman: “It’s clear that politicians only shout and cry when things don’t go their way. I’m honestly disappointed.”

@Buggzyie: “Gov Ademola Adeleke is dancing on the graves of Osun people who gave their lives for him to win a second term and Davido is mute.”

@BOGER011: “Governor Ademola Jackson Adeleke is now APC dancer and artist of the year @davido, what can you say about the gigs that your uncle just collect.”
