Former Minister of Power, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, has dismissed claims that he plans to leave the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Allied People’s Movement (APM).

Adelabu made this known in a statement issued by his media aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro.

The statement was released to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Friday evening.

ZINGTIE understands that Adelabu was among the aspirants who participated in the recently concluded APC governorship primary election in Oyo State.

Reports circulating on Friday alleged that the former minister’s personal assistant, Mr. Ajiboye Akande, met with members of the APM to discuss arrangements for both his and Adelabu’s defection to the party.

The reports further claimed that Akande acted as Adelabu’s representative to facilitate his planned switch to the APM ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Reacting to the speculation, Adelabu insisted that neither he nor his personal assistant has any plan to abandon the APC for the APM.

He described the reports as entirely false and without any factual basis.

The former minister reaffirmed his loyalty and commitment to the ruling APC.

He also urged members of the public to disregard what he called misleading reports linking him and his aide to any proposed defection from the APC to the APM.

“He remains a committed member of the APC and continues to hold the President and National Leader of the party, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the highest regard as his political mentor.

“Chief Adelabu believes in the party, respects its leadership, and remains committed to the democratic process. Given his well-known decency and integrity in politics, he is always prepared to respect the legitimate decisions of the party’s national leadership.

“Consequently, the public is urged to disregard the false narrative linking Mr Ajiboye Akande or Chief Adebayo Adelabu to any impending defection to the APM. The rumour is baseless, mischievous, and clearly intended to create confusion where none exists.”
