Aminu Tambuwal, a senator from Sokoto South, has declared that he would back former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

According to Tambuwal, Tinubu has changed from their days of battling for democracy.

The former governor of Sokoto State stated on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday night: “If Atiku is running and Bola Tinubu is, I will not support Tinubu, on Obi if that situation presents itself, I will decide.”

Additionally, Tambuwal announced that he will not be joining the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The legislator clarified that he disagrees with the APC’s approach to running Nigeria.

“I will not join APC, it’s a personal decision and I do not believe in the way the country is being run currently,” he said.

In the lead-up to the 2023 presidential election, Tambuwal also recalled alerting Nigerians to the suffering that Tinubu was causing them.

“I was the DG of Atiku’s campaign in 2023 and we went round this country to warn Nigerians against voting for Tinubu and his party.

“I can’t say that I’m disappointed because it’s clear, he is appearing to be different from what I knew of him in the past when we collaborated.

“I saw the way APC was driving Nigeria to where it is today as far back in 2018 and I left in August 2018,” he added.
