According to ESPN, Vinícius Júnior, a winger for Real Madrid, is interested in purchasing a team in Portugal’s second tier.
As he gets ready for life after football, Vinicius is rumored to be considering expanding his commercial ventures.
The 24-year-old already has a contract with Nike that expires in 2028, in addition to many personal sponsorship deals.
Roc Nation represents Vinícius, who frequently interacts with elite athletes from different sports, including the NFL and NBA.
There are eighteen teams in the Portuguese second tier, including Benfica and Porto’s reserve squads.
Rodiney Sampaio, a Brazilian, is already the manager of one of these teams, Portimonense.
Vinícius is not the first active football player to purchase a team.
In July of last year, Kylian Mbappe, a teammate from Real Madrid, acquired the majority stake in Caen, a team in the French second division.
Royal Excelsior Virton, a team in the Belgian third level, is also owned by N’Golo Kanté.
