Aishatu Ahmed Binani, the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) candidate for governor of Adamawa State in 2023, has denied recent reports that she defected from the party.

Binani, who represented Adamawa Central Zone in the Senate and ran for governor in 2023, reiterated her allegiance to the APC.

Binani refuted reports that she and her supporters had left the APC at a gathering hosted by one of her support groups in Yola on Sunday.

Binani stated through her spokesperson, Mijinyawa Kugama, at the inauguration of executives for the Gladiators for Binani Only support group, “We have not left the party. We are founding members of the APC, and no force, not even Jupiter, can compel us to abandon it.”

In the 2023 elections, Binani thanked her supporters for their dedication, which enabled her to defeat incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, whom she narrowly lost.

Umar Mustapha, a well-known politician and Binani associate, emphasised in his statement the Gladiators group’s significance in bringing Adamawa’s various ethnic groupings together.

In order to wrest Adamawa State back from the incumbent Peoples Democratic Party, he claimed that the group is a crucial platform for assembling a powerful force before the federal elections in 2027.

Himaga Yayirus, the state coordinator and founder of the Gladiators group, praised Binani’s political principles, which place a high priority on reducing poverty and empowering the underprivileged, and repeated their commitment to seeing the APC win in the 2027 elections.

The ceremony marked the inauguration of key Gladiators for Binani Only executives, including Rhoda Nuhu as Women Leader and Maryam Waziri as Secretary.
