After Arsenal defeated Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 on Wednesday, manager Mikel Arteta declared his team was in “a really nice position” in the Champions League.

The Gunners won easily at the Emirates thanks to goals from Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Martin Odegaard.

With just a trip to Girona remaining, the outcome maintains Arteta’s team in third place in the league phase.

Arsenal can finish in the top 8 and avoid the play-offs with just one point from their match against the La Liga team.

“Very happy overall. It’s a massive step, what we’ve done tonight,” Arteta told reporters after the game.

“It’s put us in a really nice position before we play the last game in Girona.

“Scoring three goals creating plenty of chances and dominating the game. And not conceding a shot, and another clean sheet at home.

“Overall, we’re really happy.”
