Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, has announced a transformative $50 million gift from long-time alumni donors Greg (’84) and Ronda (’84) Brenneman. This generous donation will support the construction of a state-of-the-art interdisciplinary healthcare education facility, as well as bolster the university’s business school, now renamed the Brenneman School of Business, and nursing school, renamed the Harmony J. Hines School of Nursing in honour of Ronda Brenneman’s late sister.
This historic gift, announced in conjunction with Washburn University’s 160th birthday celebration, marks the largest donation in the university’s history. The funds will also propel the Forever Washburn campaign forward, bringing the total to $200 million, or 80 percent of the campaign’s $250 million goal.
Washburn University Alumni Association and Foundation president Marshall Meek expressed his deepest gratitude to the Brennemans, saying, “It is difficult to adequately convey our gratitude to the Brennemans for this historic gift as well as their belief in Washburn. Through relationships with this family and other remarkable donors and alumni, we are able to dream big and prepare the leaders of tomorrow in groundbreaking and innovative ways.”
This significant investment will have a lasting impact on Washburn University, enabling the institution to provide cutting-edge educational opportunities and facilities for its students.
