In response to the recurring loss of lives in Nollywood, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has urged the nation to engage in collective prayers.
This appeal comes after the deaths of two actors on a film set in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
A well-known filmmaker, Stanley Ontop, had shared a video showing four actors being rushed to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Owerri, where two were confirmed dead upon arrival.
Reports suggest the tragedy may have been linked to a drink allegedly provided by the movie producer.

Reacting to the incident, AGN President Emeka Rollas took to his Instagram page to call for a national prayer session in collaboration with Pastor Jerry Eze.
Although Rollas clarified that the deceased were not registered members of the AGN, he warned that a “demonic pattern of annual mass deaths” seems to be targeting the Nigerian film industry.
“Barely a week after the memorial service of the late Junior Pope our member, tragedy struck in Owerri involving two promising actors.
“They are not members of the AGN but this points to two things. The devil still wants this pattern of mass death repeated on an annual basis.
“If not for God the Owerri death toll could have been four persons. Exactly the same number last year in Asaba. Please let all actors and indeed Nollywood prepare for this year’s prayer outing with pastor Jerry Eze”.
This incident comes exactly one year after the tragic loss of popular actor Junior Pope and three crew members during the filming of The Other Side of Life in Asaba, Delta State.
In the aftermath of that tragedy, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) stated that legal action could not be taken against the film’s producer, actress Adanma Luke, due to the fact that Junior Pope was not an active dues-paying member of the guild.
