US Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins’ decision to prevent illegal immigrants from receiving federal food subsidies that are funded by hardworking American taxpayers has prompted a response from Mike Johnson, the speaker of the US House of Representatives.
On Friday, Rollins gave the US Department of Agriculture instructions to ensure that federal food assistance, which is funded by hardworking American taxpayers, is not given to illegal aliens.
Additionally, she gave state agencies advice on how to improve SNAP eligibility verification.
Johnson responded by thanking Rollins and US President Donald Trump for prioritizing the American people in a message on his X Twitter account.
He maintained that the cost of illegal aliens should not be borne by productive Americans.
Johnson wrote: “Hardworking Americans shouldn’t have to foot the bill for illegal aliens.
“These programs are meant for citizens who truly need them, no one else. Thank you @SecRollins and @POTUS for putting the American people FIRST.”
Rollins’ most recent action is to bring the department into compliance with President Trump’s executive order, which aims to stop public funding of the open borders crisis.
The Trump administration is also using this tactic to deter unauthorized users from trying to use the system.
“Directs Federal departments and agencies to identify all federally funded programs currently providing financial benefits to illegal aliens and take corrective action,” according to ZINGTIE, which cites Trump’s executive order issued on February 19.
