Mai Mala Buni, the governor of Yobe State, declares that he would not be joining the coalition of opposition leaders led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, the Director-General, Press and Media Affairs, made this announcement on Saturday in the state capital of Damaturu.
According to ZINGTIE, a widely shared text message purported that Buni and four other APC governors had reached agreements to join the coalition and defect to the opposition PDP prior to the national elections in 2027.
Mohammed responded by characterizing the widely shared message as pure fiction, unjustified fantasy, and presumptions that had nothing to do with reality.
He claims that the text’s author was never close enough to the governor to believe that he could try to forecast the governor’s political movement.
“Buni is no ordinary member of APC; he is not just an APC governor. He is APC in all ramifications, with APC flowing in his veins.
“His contributions to building APC as a two-term National Secretary and National Chairman who chaired the party’s convention committee makes him unique and whose imagination of leaving the party cannot be speculated,” he said.
He restated that it must be wishful thinking on the part of the author and his paymasters, who must have been intrigued by Buni’s political acumen and wished they had someone like the governor.
