In an attack on Sunday night, gunmen kidnapped Harira Abdullahi, the wife of Alhaji Shuaibu Suleiman Galadima, the District Head of Aboro in Kaduna State’s Sanga Local Government Area, along with their daughter, Maryam Suleiman Galadima.
The two women were forcibly taken from the district head’s home by the attackers at approximately 7:36 p.m., according to a Daily Trust report.
A resident of the village, who talked to Daily Trust under condition of anonymity, confirmed the kidnapping, describing the occurrence as tragic.
“The attack threw the community into confusion, and residents quickly mobilized to rescue the abducted women,” the resident said.
But when the attackers started shooting at the pursuing residents, the attempted rescue mission took a deadly turn.
“As we followed them into the bush to rescue the victims, the gunmen shot at us. Tragically, one of our members, Umar Abdullahi, was killed, and another, Suleiman, was injured and is now being treated,” the source explained.
On Monday, the deceased’s body was interred in accordance with Islamic customs.
The source also emphasized the necessity of securing the release of the kidnapped ladies and urging an immediate increase in community security.
