The Anambra State Government has welcomed with enthusiasm the assurances given by President Bola Tinubu during his official visit to the state on Thursday.
During a town hall gathering held at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, after commissioning several important projects, Tinubu pledged to address erosion issues in the state and improve road connectivity between Anambra and Kogi, among other commitments.
In a statement released on Friday, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, stated that the visit achieved its intended goals.
Mefor said: “Anambra State government wishes to express gratitude to Ndi Anambra for the rousing welcome given to the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Dike-Si-Mba Anambra, on his historic state visit to Anambra State.
“The state visit was executed as planned and yielded several results, which would shortly benefit the state and its citizens.
“In response to Governor Soludo’s requests on behalf of the state, among other results, the president promised to assist the state in addressing the erosion threat, reintegration into the national railway system, and restoring the state to the nation’s gas master plan.
“The president also promised to finish the federal roads linking Anambra and Kogi that were abandoned to facilitate access and shorten travel time from Anambra State to the South-South and Abuja.”
During his visit, President Tinubu commissioned several major projects in Anambra, including the new Government House, the Solution Fun City, the eight-lane dual carriageway leading to the new administrative complex, and the Light of the Nation Tower.

Beyond the development promises, the residents appeared thrilled by what seemed like Tinubu’s informal endorsement of Governor Chukwuma Soludo for another term.
The state is scheduled to hold its governorship election on November 8, with Soludo set to contest for re-election.
There had been speculation that Tinubu might support the APC’s candidate, but his remarks about Soludo’s leadership have reassured many of the governor’s followers.
Tinubu had said during the visit: “Your son, Soludo is my very good friend. He remains my friend and we will keep working together.”
