The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has urged troops to respond firmly and effectively to all forms of threats against national security.
This directive was given during a special Eid-el-Adha lunch held with soldiers at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) of Sub-sector 6 under Operation Fansan Yanma in Fatika, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, according to a report by NAN.
Represented by Maj.-Gen. Erema Akerejola, the Chief of Logistics for the Nigerian Army, Oluyede paid tribute to the troops who had made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Nigeria’s peace, unity, and stability.
He commended the troops for their steadfast commitment, exceptional bravery, and deep sense of duty—qualities that, according to him, have led to notable victories despite serious challenges on the battlefield.
The Army Chief expressed appreciation for the gift of life and the relative calm that had returned to several areas of the country. He also reaffirmed the Army’s hope for a more secure and prosperous Nigeria in the future.
Reflecting on the cost of the fight, he acknowledged the visible signs of bravery carried by many soldiers—battle scars, physical injuries, and lasting memories of their service.
Oluyede offered prayers for the fallen soldiers and assured their families that their courageous actions would always be honored and remembered by both the nation and the world.
He reaffirmed the Army’s unwavering determination to protect Nigeria’s borders and defend against any internal or external threat.
He also pointed out that Eid-El-Kabir serves as a powerful symbol of national sacrifice, and a call to embrace selflessness and compassion in building a stronger society.
