Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano has explained the reasons behind his side’s 4-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup Round of 16 clash held on Sunday.

The MLS team suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of the French champions at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with PSG dominating the encounter from start to finish.

Joao Neves scored twice, while Achraf Hakimi added one, and an own goal from Tomas Aviles sealed a comprehensive win for Luis Enrique’s squad.

During his post-match comments, Mascherano acknowledged the significant quality gap between his side and the Ligue 1 giants.

“You could see the difference between both teams. It’s very big, but we tried to work hard and compete,” Mascherano said.

He continued by praising the opponents, saying, “We faced probably the best team in the world with an incredible manager.”

Despite the loss, Mascherano expressed satisfaction with his players’ efforts and attitude throughout the game.

“I’m proud of my players. If anything, we competed well,” he added.
