Elon Musk, the billionaire tech tycoon, has ignited internet debates once more, this time over the future of humanity and population increase.Guide to local restaurants

Musk suggested in a series of tweets that in order to balance the world’s birth rate, parents should strive for at least three children. Failure to do so could result in a collapse of the population, he said.

“People who have kids do need to have 3 kids to make up for those who have 0 or 1 kid or population will collapse,” he tweeted.

He went on to make historical allusions, asserting that the collapse of ancient Rome and other long-standing civilizations was largely caused by a dropping birth rate.

“Low birth rate was the primary factor in the fall of Rome and all civilizations that enjoyed an extended period of prosperity with no serious external threats. Shockingly overlooked by most historians,” Musk added.

The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla has long expressed concerns about population growth, stating in the past that a “population collapse” would pose a greater threat to society than climate change.
