In recent bilateral talks, the presidents of Brazil and Nigeria supported Air Peace’s partnership with Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer to build a maintenance facility in Nigeria and grow its fleet.

As part of its fleet growth strategy, the Nigerian airline has ordered several Embraer E195-E2 jets and is now receiving Embraer E175 aircraft. Embraer is also helping Air Peace build a maintenance facility in Nigeria to handle the airline’s expanding aircraft and maybe other operators.

Presidents Bola Tinubu and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva recently met at the BRICS summit, and Yusuf Tuggar, minister of foreign affairs, announced that they had decided to expedite the relationship.

Speaking at 12:08 in an interview with Channels TV, Tuggar disclosed the extent of the two leaders’ talks on aviation cooperation.

“This is one of the things that was discussed there, setting up a hub for checks for servicing of aircraft in Nigeria. And as soon as Air Peace secures a plane that they can put on that route, the Brazilian has said they’re ready to approve for them to start flying immediately,” he stated.

The Foreign Affairs Minister stressed how urgently both presidents wanted the agreement to be put into effect.

“This is something the two presidents emphasized. President Lula said Look, I’m 79 and President Tinubu is 73, we don’t have time. And Mr. President also reemphasized that. So, we have our marching orders, and we’re ready to go,” the minister declared.

The collaboration is a major step forward for Nigeria’s aviation industry, with the potential to establish the nation as a regional repair center and grow Air Peace’s global route network. Nigeria and Brazil’s bilateral ties are further strengthened by the partnership with Embraer, which is partially owned by the Brazilian government.

The project might help Air Peace’s growth goals while lowering maintenance costs for Nigerian airlines and generating jobs in the aviation industry.
