Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has officially withdrawn his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His decision was made public through a resignation letter he personally signed, dated June 12, 2025.

The letter was handed over to the Party Chairman of Ward 4, located in the Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.

In the letter, Senator Fadahunsi explained that his departure from the PDP was driven by ongoing internal crises at the national level, marked by deep-rooted conflicts and drawn-out legal disputes following the 2023 general elections.

He further noted that the choice to leave the party came after in-depth discussions with his political allies, relatives, and close associates.

The letter reads, “I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my Membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect, due to the irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedeviled the party at the National level after the 2023 general elections.

“This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends.

“It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith.

“Thank you for your understanding.”

In a related development, a PDP chieftain from Ilesa, who chose not to be named, shared in a conversation on Saturday that Fadahunsi’s departure had been anticipated for some time.

The source disclosed that the senator had become disillusioned with the PDP and had been eager to exit the party, despite efforts from some quarters to convince him to stay.
