Martin Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, is a Nigerian social critic who chose to strengthen himself through tradition.

On Friday afternoon, July 18, the 31-year-old television star shared a video of his trip to his Edo State village, Agenebode, on social media.

Verydarkman’s video starts with him talking on the phone with his father, who tells him to go to a specific river and temple in his village before departing. VDM claims that his father threatened to harm him if he didn’t go to the previously specified locations.

After storming the shrine, Verydarkman prayed for protection there before moving to the river, where he bathed in the water and prayed there as well.

Verydarkman also went to Otse Primary School, which is named after his family, with a large group of people.

He cleared the grass surrounding the signboard to increase its visibility when the activist asked for a machete. He also posed with his extended family for a few pictures.

Sharing the video, he wrote: “As I was leaving my village (AGENEBODE), my father called me and told me I cannot leave the village just like that; else, something evil might happen to me… never knew who I was.”
